Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to take warm clothes even in Spring?

Yes. The weather can be variable at that time of year and the evenings may be cold.

How much luggage should I take?

One suitcase and cabin bag plus handbag. You can put a smaller bag inside your suitcase, if you intend purchasing a lot of fabric or souvenirs. Make sure you check with your carrier airline as they can have different restrictions. Remember: Only 100ml liquid containers are permissible in cabin baggage for international flights.

Is there internet available where we are staying?

There will be access to the internet in all our accommodation.

Do I need a Visa?

Canada now requires a visa for Australians.

What about medications?

Bring enough medication for the holiday period. You can visit a doctor to renew prescriptions, but it will cost between $70 and $100 for the appointment. You will generally be able to claim this on your Travel Insurance when you get home.

Can I easily access banks and ATM’s in Canada?

Yes. We are visiting large towns and tourist destinations. It is an idea to take a Cashcard with Canadian dollars on it (ask at your bank) and you can use this just like your debit/credit card in Australia.

What animals can I expect see?

This depends on the season. Deer, elk and bighorn sheep are common at all times. Moose and bears are a little more difficult to find.

Who do I tell about my trip?

Inform Smartraveller  that you will be out of the country. Leave copies of your itinerary with family and friends.
