Well the 2014 Spring Tour was just fabulous!
We had the best weather, the best accommodation and the best experiences yet!!
Whilst staying out of Cochrane in the beautiful foothills, we saw 2 very rare, Great Grey Owls. Then at Yamnuska, we hand fed 5 magnificent Wolfdogs. We danced at the Canmore production of “Oh, Canada, Eh!” and tasted the best chocolate ever at the Chocolatier Shop in Canmore.
We met some wonderful Canadians in the Banff Hot Springs and shivered a little on top of Sulphur Mountain in Banff. The Gondola ride up was just spectacular.
And then there was the sumptuous accommodation at the Fairmont Palliser in Calgary, the cheeky barmaids and cowboy dancers at Ranchman’s, as well as the fabulous Festival of Quilts. Joan Statz, the Applique Queen, was so inspiring and our Applique piece ‘A Heritage of Quilting’ -Joan’s Own Creations, is almost done!! We had so many great experiences with the Canadian Quilting Guild members in Cochrane and Canmore- they do amazing work. And then there was Lake Louise – words can’t express the sheer beauty of the place. Oh, memories!!
Do visit me at the Mad Quilters Gathering in Penrith, Sydney, August 1st-3rd, this year, for more great stories of our escapades in Canada!!
